News: Scheduled KVM Node Reboots

Published: 06/01/2018

As you may be aware, severe hardware level flaws have been published which affect almost all Intel processors - Meltdown and Spectre - https://spectreattack.com

As part of our mitigation for these vulnerabilities, we will need to apply software updates that require a reboot. This reboot is scheduled for approximately 9:00AM UTC 1/6/18. We apologise for the short notice however this is a necessary update for security reasons.

Please note: Clean shutdowns and reboots may mean the reboot process could take around half an hour for some nodes.

If your server doesn't come back online after the reboot please check to make sure you're booting from HDD and not CDROM. If you're still down please open a ticket.

Our host level reboots don't patch your individual servers. You will need to run software updates inside your VPS to be patched.

These reboots are only for KVM nodes at this time as a patch for the OpenVZ kernel has not been released at this time. Storage VPS products are unaffected as that node is already patched.
